The retirement planning landscape doesn't sit still. Carriers release new products. Rates shift. Tax rules get updated. And your own situation — your age, your goals, your family needs — changes too. So let's talk about what's ahead.
Three things worth watching.
- Product changes. Carriers release new contracts and reprice old ones every year. A product that was the best option two years ago may not be today — and vice versa. This doesn't mean churning; it means knowing what's current.
- Tax rules. Contribution limits, RMD ages, and bracket thresholds move. Each change can shift the best withdrawal order or the case for a Roth conversion.
- Your life. A new grandchild, a health change, a move, a spouse retiring. Every one of these can change what the money is for — and therefore what it should be doing.
What a good plan does about it.
It gets reviewed. Not rebuilt — reviewed. Once a year, you sit down and ask: has anything changed in my life, in the rules, or in what's available? If the answer is no, great, nothing to do. If yes, you adjust one thing rather than discovering five things in year ten.
The invitation.
Whether or not we've ever worked together, I'm glad to do a once-a-year check-in with you. Thirty minutes, no agenda beyond "is the plan still right?" It's the single most useful habit I see among the people who retire well.
