"Just send me something I can look at"

By Gregory Stevenson · 2 min read

I hear this one a lot: "Just send me something I can look at." Totally fair request. So here's the honest answer: I can send you brochures, rate sheets, and product summaries all day long. But I'd be doing you a disservice if I pretended that's enough.

Here's the problem with "something to look at."

A brochure shows you the product's best case. A rate sheet shows you today's cap, which can change next quarter. Neither one tells you the only thing that matters: whether this fits your situation.

Two people can read the same brochure. For one, the product is exactly right. For the other, it's a mistake. The brochure can't tell them which one they are.

What I'd rather send you.

A one-page summary built on your numbers: your income gap, how much needs to be reachable, what a floor could realistically produce, and what it would cost. That takes a short conversation to build — usually 15 minutes — because I need three or four facts from you first.

After that, you'll have something that's actually worth looking at. And if the answer is "an annuity doesn't fit," the page will say that too.

So yes, I'll absolutely send you something. Let's just make it something useful.
